Alrighty...both quilts done
for the double baptism.
All went well, it was a great
morning.
Then off to the valley for
tons of stuff:
FABRIC
CLEETS
SLIDING SHORTS
NEW BAT FOR CHASE
FLIP FLOPS FOR CHASE
CASUAL SHOES FOR CHASE
SHORTS/TSHIRTS FOR CHASE
DRESS PANTS FOR CHASE
DRESS SHOES FOR CHASE
FLIP FLOPS FOR ME
VINYL FOR ME,
LAVENDER & GREEN...YIPEE One horizontal rag quilt...

The quilt backed in denim

with 2 pieces appliqued
on the back. One is a bib
picked out by the dad and
the pocket of the robe that
the mom wore in the
hospital after having the boy.

I am sooo tired, Dillard's. Payless,

Joann's, JCPenny, Sports Authority,
Olive Garden and a few other places,
plus the baptisms this morning
make for a good, but busy day.

Chase had his post-op appointment
with the ENT today. His hearing test
showed great improvement. It's not
perfect but he is out of hearing aid
range. The retraction of his eardrum
has improved some but we need
another 6 months to see if it will
continue to heal or if there may be
permnant retraction. So for now
I am happy to report that we have
averted diaster. So now we wait
another 6 months and pray that
the tube in his left ear stays put.
That will buy us the time we need
to see if Chase's hearing continues
to improve and if the retraction
continues to improve.
I am soooo grateful....

Here is Chase in Kindergarten,
the first year he played
Coach Pitch. Well this
is the last year that he'll play
in the minors. I love this time
of year. We'll spend at least
4 nights a week, at either practices
or games. They are so fun to
watch.
Can't believe how much he's
grown since this picture.
Practice starts tonight...

Went for a walk this evening,
which I should do every evening, but
you know how it is you let things get
in the way or find an excuse not to go
or have something much more fun to
do. (Then you see a picture of yourself
and think WOW how did that happen?)
Or you get things ready to sew or
clean or sort the laundry with every
intention of really getting it all done,
but once again something much
more interesting came up. Or your
sweet little boy wants to hear stories
of his quilt or from your childhood.
Then you think back to conversations
you've had lately and lists you've
made of things to do, get done...
And you realize you're tired of playing
the nice one, of saying and doing
the right thing. Of treading ever so
lightly on others feelings who could
care less about your feelings and only
contact you when they need some
thing. I'm tired of sneaky, suspicious
people, who can't take reality and life.
Especially the life they chose.
I'm so grateful I have
a great family and great neighbors.
I'm grateful my life is full and
satisfying and doesn't center on my
next trip to the drive thru for a
diet soda or when the kids are gonna
take a nap or when the hubby is
gonna get home. I'm grateful Nate
likes to come home and does quickly
after work. I am so grateful he is
learning how to do the laundry my
way and that he even does the dishes
and that he helps hold my little
friends that come to play
with me each day.
Just needed to get that off my chest.
Feel better now...off to watch the
Good Wife after I tackle the laundry
and bathroom.

I was chatting with a dear
friend of mine tonight. Someone
that we both know had passed away
and with her living in Utah I was
pretty sure that she didn't know.
Mary and I went to school
together, cruised main when we first
got our licenses in new trucks of
our dad's. We played a ton of
Volleyball, Basketball and Softball
together. We had a lot of fun together.
She told me tonight that in July
of this year she was baptized. I was
pleasantly surprised but as a kid
had always told my parents that she
would make a good mormon. How funny
is that, that years later she now
belongs to the Church of Jesus Christ
of Latter Day Saints. Not sure why but
I'm pretty happy about that.

Next Saturday, I have been blessed
with the opportunity to speak about
the Holy Ghost at the Baptism of 2
of the boys in our primary class. As
usual I'm nervous and have been
thinking about what I will say. I just love
being a part of these sweet little spirits
baptisms. One of the boys has asked
Nate to Confirm him a member of the
Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter Day saints. How awesome
and what a great blessing is that?
Well off to sew and see if I can't
keep this great feeling of happiness
with me, despite the news of another
loss of a member of our community.

This year Chase was able
to participate in the Pine Wood Derby.
Chase's idea was a tank.
If you know him he is Army crazy.
The last two weeks have been
filled with this ...
These are the cars he raced
against in the Wolf Den.

Here he is, sooo excited
for his first race.

Here he is winning his second race.
Green car on the left.

Here, Chase and Merrick
are making faces. Chase informed
me later they were talking
about girls (WHAT???)

Here Chase is holding his
awards for the evening.

Here is the winning car ...
YEP, I said it.
Chase won 1st place
for the Wolf Den and
3rd Place Overall.

This car is Chase's vision.
We tried to influence him and
he stood firm on what he wanted.
It's a good thing he didn't
listen to us. Even my dad
was alittle skeptical when he saw
it up agianst the other cars and
after seeing one of
Chase's cousins cars.
Sometimes simple and classic
are better.

I spent many hours
the last two days cutting
these cute little things for
a friend. There is the window frame,
the cartoon pig, the igloo and then
there is a fat pig not shown.
I'll explain more later when
I get a copy of the finished project
that these were used in.
I just love my Silhouette and all
that it can do. I have tons of scrap fabric.
Lots of flannel not lots of fleece.
I am tired of buying the
swiffer replacement thingys,
so I thought I bet I can make my own.
I started with this pile of scraps.
I cut a few layers and sewed
them together down the middle.
Made a pocket for the
stick thingy to fit in.
Fringed them.

Then I threw it in
the washing machine.
This is what came out.
Looks kinda yucky but
boy does it work swell.
I think I will make one
tomorrow with fleece. It
won't fray like the flannel
but should pick up just as well.

DIY = MONEY SAVED ...

Monday, March 1, 2010

So this is where we were
headed to at 5am today.
Chase slept most of the way there
and was surprisingly calm and
in a good mood for the trip.
He never let on that he was nervous
and says he wasn't. I have
a feeling that Nate and I were
more nervous and worried than he was.We checked in and after about 20
minutes we headed back to the
pre-op holding area. Chase
read One fish, two fish,
red fish, blue fish while we
waited. A nurse asked
a bunch of questions and then
Dr. Raines stopped by and
then the anthesiologist.
Finally they took him back
and we were so pleased that
there weren't any tears like
all the times before.

Here he is 25 minutes later.
The only thing we could see was a
little indentation where the
oxygen mask was and the same
on his ear where the strap lay.
It was so good to see him smiling.

Here he is 10 minutes
later patiently waiting for Nate
to bring the truck around so
we can go home.

Good news only had work and
a tube done on the left ear.
All is well with the right ear.
Dr. Raines is cautiously optimistic
that the eardrum will heal. It may take
several weeks up to several months
as it was much more retracted
than they realized.
Prayer will be my best friend
until we know if his hearing was
preserved or if he will eventually
need a hearing aid.
